This is a unique variable version of the iconic DIN. In an emerging global market, brands are required to invest on a universal typeface which creates a cohesive visual language across the entire communication space and is optimised to perform in virtually any environment. The all new DIN Global is a single variable typeface which was developed to meet the challenging demand of global brands to speak to a large international client base with a wide range of weights and a consistent tone of voice in more than 140 languages and scripts including Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic, Hebrew and Vietnamese along with italics. Based on the PF DIN Text type system, DIN Global retained the original skeleton but its letterforms were carefully reworked into a new robust design with comfortable spacing that preserves legibility across a wide spectrum of sizes. Apart from its aesthetic part, DIN Global is functional and optimised to convey the brand’s message clearly and effectively. Furthermore, the exciting new variable font technology has been implemented in order to offer designers an unprecedented number of new possibilities for captivating UX and better reading experiences. Expanding the utility of DIN Global we introduce a number of novelties. Its expressive character is retained by adopting alternates which respond automatically to variations in weight and preserve the rhythm of the design. DIN Global features a palette of 20 predefined weights (including a variable font file with unlimited variations) and additional stylistic alternates for Latin, Greek and Hebrew. A new set of international currency symbols was added to the list such as the Bitcoin, Ruble, Hryvnia, Rupee, Shekel, Manat, Lira. Finally, it is powered in every variation by a wide range of Western and Arabic symbols for packaging, environment, wayfinding, signage, transportation, computing, fabric care. Overall, DIN Global is a warm, clean typeface with global appeal.
